Nostalgia Trip – Khushiyan Chakh Lo

Being an former exchange student, I’ve had several memories with Shan. I still remember packing several Shan Masala packets for various Desi food treats and taking them with me to USA. At one point I even got my American Host Family hooked to Shan Masala and even they wouldn’t eat their food without sprinkling a bit of Shan Chaat Masala on their food. Such good memories! And this nostalgia trip brings me back to the reason why I started writing this blog; Shan Food’s recent Ramzan ad! First watch it here:

The ad literally had me in tears, reminiscing my exchange year when I used to crave Ammi Ke Haath Ka Khana and Shan used to save the day for me! This Ramzan this is the best that I have seen so far from any brand in Pakistan! The emotional connect is perfect, the message is loud and clear and the relatability is just to the point. Brownie points to Shan for hiting the right notes with just the right product placement.

Lighting Up Lives, One At a Time

With the holy month of Ramzan starting and the heat wave picking up in Karachi, several brands have come forward to join and support causes in order to benefit humanity. Keeping up with the pace, Pepsi Pakistan took an initiative to bring out positivity and light up Pakistan this Ramzan.

The recent Liter of Light Pakistan CSR Campaign has created noise on digital media platforms, generating talkability about Pepsi doing its part towards instilling positivity in Pakistan. The campaign aims towards up-cycling the empty Pepsi bottles and turning them into low-cost Solar Powered Lights and lighting up the high load-shedding affected areas of Pakistan. They provided IDP camps with up-cycled Pepsi plastic bottles that were converted to lights powered by solar energy. These lights were installed in houses, hospitals and localities and made a real difference in lives of the people in the Jalozai camp. The installation was documented by the renowned Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy.

While being a youth-oriented brand and simultaneously taking an initiative towards supporting a cause, Pepsi has taken a fresh turn in terms of brand positioning and marketing in Pakistan. Being a brand of the masses, Pepsi has always been successful in touching hearts and creating the needed impact on the audience.

Currently Pepsi has successfully installed several lights in Muhalla Alipura, Khaliqabad and is working towards lighting up several other areas of Pakistan during Ramzan. It’s amazing to see how the brand is already up and working, making a difference and engaging many others to add to the cause.

Engaging the young celebrities like Sanam Saeed, Syra Yousaf, Azfar Rehman and Hamza Ali Abbasi, seems like Pepsi is sending a message to the youth and inviting them to become a part of the campaign.

Amidst the negativity that we Pakistanis face everyday, it’s really refreshing to see brands making a difference through supporting causes and making Pakistan a better place.

Red Bull Brings Cricket to Campus!

Recently Red Bull brought back the thrills of Cricket to K-town with the Finale of it’s fourth edition of Red Bull Campus Cricket Pakistan.

Since past four years, Red Bull has been investing towards providing several individuals a platform to grow in the field of sports and several other extra curricular activities. This year too Red Bull brought together the Cricketers of tomorrow from 17 cities and 85 campuses nationwide.

After two months of heart racing action, the final of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 lived up to its billing as the Jinnah Degree College Karachi’s team outwitted Lahore’s University of Central Punjab by 17 runs to earn the title of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 Pakistan Champion.

The final match was launched by a colourful opening ceremony that attracted legendary cricket stars like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Moin Khan and Saleem Yousaf. Besides the living legends that attended the event some of the leading Karachi based current cricketers including Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Khurram Manzoor also turned up on a memorable Sunday night at the DHA Sports Club, Moin Khan Cricket Academy, Karachi.

After winning the toss, the captain of the University of Central Punjab team Ali Tipu Sultan opted to bowl first on a sluggish pitch. Jinnah Degree College got off to a steady start but lost three wickets in quick succession. Shahzar Hasan, younger brother of Pakistan international Shahzeb Hasan, held the innings together with a vital innings of 53. After Shahzar’s departure, Qadir Khan ensured a competitive score of 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs through a workmanlike run a ball 31. Ali Tipu who snared three wickets in the semi-final, took four in the final, conceding 22 runs in his four overs.

University of Central Punjab were taxed in their chase from the outset as the pitch became increasingly sluggish under the lights at the Moin Khan Academy. Tamour Sultan was the only batsman to make an impact, top scoring for his team with a 48 ball 54. Tamour though fell in the 16th over with his team still 39 runs adrift of the 120 run target.

After his demise the innings folded quickly with Jinnah Degree College’s all out spin attack ably backed by some sharp fielding all around the park. Waqas took three wickets while Salman took two. The Pakistan champions would now travel to India to take part in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals scheduled for October 2015.

My Journey To #InnerGlow – Taking Forward the Legacy of a Pond’s Girl

I have always been an avid user of Pond’s face-wash and since last year I have been using the Pond’s White Beauty cream as well. Naturally, with the year of trust, I decided to try this new and improved Pond’s White Beauty cream and face-wash. This is what it did to my skin!
