CAREEM, Pakistan’s leading app for booking chauffeur driven cars, conducted a scavenger hunt for public of Karachi and Lahore in celebration of Pakistan Day. Themed around photography of local cultural & historic sites, the hunt saw participants, based on clues provided, racing to various locations of their respective city by utilizing CAREEM’s services.

“Although we are a Dubai based start-up, present in 25 global cities, we are proud to say our roots can be traced back to this country, as CAREEM’s app has been completely developed in Pakistan,” said Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director – CAREEM Networks. “This scavenger hunt was planned to not only celebrate this historic day, but also to inculcate in today’s youth the need to be in touch with our roots. For this reason, we chose historic and culturally rich sites for this competition, while the aspect of uploading photographs of each site to social media allows us to promote these locations across the world.”

The monuments for the competition, as decided upon by the management, were the Quaid-e-Azam Library, Lahore Fort, Azadi Bridge, Lahore Museum and Fortress Stadium in Lahore and Pakistan Air Force Museum, Tomb of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Hindu Gymkhana, Jehangir Kothari Parade and Karachi Goan Association in Karachi.

Junaid further added, “I congratulate the winning teams and the runners-up from both cities. We hope all the participants enjoyed a fun-filled day out with their families and friends and had a great Careem experience in celebrating Pakistan Day.”

36 participants from Lahore and 27 from Karachi were chosen to take part in this unique scavenger hunt through a prior registration process. Beginning at 11 am, the participants, along with their loved ones, went about their respective cities to take a picture of each location, upload it to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using #CAREEMPAK #PakHunt #(teamname) as hashtags before moving on to the next.

Team Markhor from Karachi and Team KalaJadu from Lahore, the winners of the competition, were able to upload pictures of all the locations by 3:00PM on Wednesday, the competition’s deadline. The hunt concluded with a closing ceremony at both cities, where winners and runners-up were handed prizes by CAREEM’s Management.

Parachabafi – Traditional Meets Modern

The hand-painted fabric, in shape of artifacts and fancy clothes is something us desis have grown up with. Either watching our mom’s wearing them or dressing up at a family event wearing a hand-painted colorful kameez. It has been a part of our traditional attire and has had it\s sweet time in Pakistan’s fashion trends.

Well, how if I tell you that someone has been finding the middle ground between then and now and is making Traditional meet the Modern?

Allow me to Introduce you to Parchabafi!

The Paracha family brand, owned by Nida Paracha is bringing back the hand-painted fabric trend with a modern touch to it. This Eid, Nida launched her Exclusive Eid Collection, successfully conducting her second exhibition.

The Paracha family since generations have been associated with pristine quality textile manufacturing and design, and this brand follows this very tradition.

The designer’s inspiration this year was French Art blended with Pakistan’s Cultural Style. The designer label claims to come from the core of Asia, the land of art & culture as a solution to all your wardrobe issues! Who wouldn’t love that?

Toyota – It’s Definitely A #GrandeAffair

Several brands, be it FMCGs, MNCs or small businesses are experimenting with Digital Outreach, talkability and word of mouth generated by social media key opinion leaders. Toyota, jumping on the bandwagon, initiated it’s own Blogger Meet-up, however, it wasn’t anything like the ones we bloggers are used to attending!

Initiating the hype by sending these beautiful USB Key-chains, Toyota Pakistan invited bloggers from all walks of life to Indulge in the #GrandeAffair at Indus Motor Company Headquarters.CM31ugCUYAAyhf7

Coming to the event part, the KOLs were invited to take an exclusive tour of the toyota manufacturing facilities, getting the first hand experience of how a car is designed, manufactured, tested and then delivered. The bloggers were briefed on the new Corolla Altis Grande, and informed of the car’s superior continuous variable transmission technology that provides excellent performance and unmatched fuel efficiency in its class of vehicles. They also informed that the new Corolla variants being manufactured in Pakistan now have more than 60 percent local components. The new Corolla has 760 additional parts made in Pakistan. The whole experience of watching a car getting manufactured was fascinating but the best part was yet to come. A cruise dinner was arranged for the bloggers to socialize, engage and enjoy the night breeze of Karachi.

Magnum ushered in the start of the new season by throwing a ritzy and fashionable chocolate themed party, showcasing exclusive collections inspired by the rich and luscious tones of crackling Belgian Chocolate. Celebrated fashion designers Shehla Chatoor, Khadijah Shah for Elan, Omer Farooq for Republic, Maheen Karim and Nomi Ansari showcased their party collections at a glitzy evening for the fashionable crème de la crème.

Apart from the designer collections, two exquisite installations by Couture mavericks, Ali Xeeshan and Fahad Hussayn, got a lot of attention from fashionistas and pleasure seekers who crowded around to marvel at the unique and custom built installations. Choco-lovers including A-list celebs, designers and socialites interacted and indulged in all things chocolate as the party continued into the night.

The Magnum Party harked back to the heyday of Pakistan fashion when beautiful clothes were worn by A-listers who lived in an indulgent age. The Magnum Party broke through the clutter of fashion presentations and took fashion back to being an extravaganza, a pure moment of luxury and indulgence that was yours for the taking. With Nabila’s exquisite styling, RAKA and Catwalk’s impeccable décor, Creative Chao’s Digital Selfie Booth and event design with Catwalk’s show production, Magnum laid out an evening that dripped with indulgence and style.

What caught my eye the most and gave #MagnumParty15 a digitally integrated edge was the Digital Selfie right at the entrance. The celebs indulged in taking digital selfies and having them uploaded on Magnum Pakistan’s digital media profiles right away. It was what formed a strong connect between the on-ground event and the digital hype about it.

“We are excited to bring to town an evening of indulgence and pleasure where we celebrate Chocolate as the Color of the Season. We hope the rich experience of the world’s premium Belgian Chocolate Icecream and the best of Pakistan’s fashion is never to be forgotten experience,” says Azka Waqar, Brand Manager – Magnum Pakistan.

Magnum never misses an opportunity to throw a party. Top models showcased the Chocolate Collections, the DJ spun her magic, innovative Magnums were the order of the day and guests were wowed throughout the night. The exclusive list of invitees added zing, glamour and excitement to a Chocolate Party that will long be remembered.

After two months of heart racing action, the final of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 lived up to its billing as the Jinnah Degree College Karachi’s team outwitted Lahore’s University of Central Punjab by 17 runs to earn the title of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 Pakistan Champion.

The final match was launched by a colourful opening ceremony that attracted legendary cricket stars like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Moin Khan and Saleem Yousaf. Besides the living legends that attended the event some of the leading Karachi based current cricketers including Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Khurram Manzoor also turned up on a memorable Sunday night at the DHA Sports Club, Moin Khan Cricket Academy, Karachi.

After winning the toss, the captain of the University of Central Punjab team Ali Tipu Sultan opted to bowl first on a sluggish pitch. Jinnah Degree College got off to a steady start but lost three wickets in quick succession. Shahzar Hasan, younger brother of Pakistan international Shahzeb Hasan, held the innings together with a vital innings of 53. After Shahzar’s departure, Qadir Khan ensured a competitive score of 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs through a workmanlike run a ball 31. Ali Tipu who snared three wickets in the semi-final, took four in the final, conceding 22 runs in his four overs.

University of Central Punjab were taxed in their chase from the outset as the pitch became increasingly sluggish under the lights at the Moin Khan Academy. Tamour Sultan was the only batsman to make an impact, top scoring for his team with a 48 ball 54. Tamour though fell in the 16th over with his team still 39 runs adrift of the 120 run target.

After his demise the innings folded quickly with Jinnah Degree College’s all out spin attack ably backed by some sharp fielding all around the park. Waqas took three wickets while Salman took two. The Pakistan champions would now travel to India to take part in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals scheduled for October 2015.
