Parachabafi – Traditional Meets Modern

The hand-painted fabric, in shape of artifacts and fancy clothes is something us desis have grown up with. Either watching our mom’s wearing them or dressing up at a family event wearing a hand-painted colorful kameez. It has been a part of our traditional attire and has had it\s sweet time in Pakistan’s fashion trends.

Well, how if I tell you that someone has been finding the middle ground between then and now and is making Traditional meet the Modern?

Allow me to Introduce you to Parchabafi!

The Paracha family brand, owned by Nida Paracha is bringing back the hand-painted fabric trend with a modern touch to it. This Eid, Nida launched her Exclusive Eid Collection, successfully conducting her second exhibition.

The Paracha family since generations have been associated with pristine quality textile manufacturing and design, and this brand follows this very tradition.

The designer’s inspiration this year was French Art blended with Pakistan’s Cultural Style. The designer label claims to come from the core of Asia, the land of art & culture as a solution to all your wardrobe issues! Who wouldn’t love that?

Parchabafi incorporates different themes, styles and designs including embellishing chiffons, silks, wrinkle free & machine washable fabrics with Serwoski, laces, buttons, sequence, bindings, motifs and zarree apart from the hand-painted fabrics.

The brand offers five major collections, categorizing their designs in under these names:

Vignette: For the sociable, employed or academically acquiring, woman – the vignette line offers a very off-the-cuff, relaxed and contented balance.

Blend: This one provides the optimal attire for semi-formal evening events. Be it a quaint tea-party with your friends or a much-awaited family gathering.

Engraved: Engraved moves to cater to the customers requiring a more nuptial-oriented look. Perfect for weddings and such, the engraved line consistently and impeccably delivers detailed embroidery and all the associated glamour.

Concept: The Concept collection provides as complete a look as any un-stitched fabric would allow. They take on the initiative of enchanting the customers a step beyond their own requirements and, in doing so; present to you the option of processing their Concept collection as per your requirements and specifications sprinkled with the talent of their own designers and master workmen.

Abstract: The epitome of Parchabafi’s contemporary nature, what they provide in the abstract line is consistently evolving delivery of the latest fashions and trends before they even present themselves to the arcade. It becomes both liberal and conservative, all curled up into attire you just won’t be able to get enough of.

The Exhibition took place in Karachi at the Prince Jeweler’s Outlet a few days ago, showcasing Nida’s this year’s French inspired intertwined with Pakistan’s Culture fashion line.

Personally, I love how they are incorporating the Traditional designs and giving them a modern touch to create clothes for working women. Here’s to more meaningful fashion and great design! More power to you Nida!

Magnum Pakistan – Celebrating Chocolate as the Color of Glamour!

Last week Magnum Pakistan, following the Magnum Global, threw the party of the year – Magnum Chocolate Party – Making pleasure meet fashion and glamour!

Magnum ushered in the start of the new season by throwing a ritzy and fashionable chocolate themed party, showcasing exclusive collections inspired by the rich and luscious tones of crackling Belgian Chocolate. Celebrated fashion designers Shehla Chatoor, Khadijah Shah for Elan, Omer Farooq for Republic, Maheen Karim and Nomi Ansari showcased their party collections at a glitzy evening for the fashionable crème de la crème.

Apart from the designer collections, two exquisite installations by Couture mavericks, Ali Xeeshan and Fahad Hussayn, got a lot of attention from fashionistas and pleasure seekers who crowded around to marvel at the unique and custom built installations. Choco-lovers including A-list celebs, designers and socialites interacted and indulged in all things chocolate as the party continued into the night.

The Magnum Party harked back to the heyday of Pakistan fashion when beautiful clothes were worn by A-listers who lived in an indulgent age. The Magnum Party broke through the clutter of fashion presentations and took fashion back to being an extravaganza, a pure moment of luxury and indulgence that was yours for the taking. With Nabila’s exquisite styling, RAKA and Catwalk’s impeccable décor, Creative Chao’s Digital Selfie Booth and event design with Catwalk’s show production, Magnum laid out an evening that dripped with indulgence and style.

What caught my eye the most and gave #MagnumParty15 a digitally integrated edge was the Digital Selfie right at the entrance. The celebs indulged in taking digital selfies and having them uploaded on Magnum Pakistan’s digital media profiles right away. It was what formed a strong connect between the on-ground event and the digital hype about it.

“We are excited to bring to town an evening of indulgence and pleasure where we celebrate Chocolate as the Color of the Season. We hope the rich experience of the world’s premium Belgian Chocolate Icecream and the best of Pakistan’s fashion is never to be forgotten experience,” says Azka Waqar, Brand Manager – Magnum Pakistan.

Magnum never misses an opportunity to throw a party. Top models showcased the Chocolate Collections, the DJ spun her magic, innovative Magnums were the order of the day and guests were wowed throughout the night. The exclusive list of invitees added zing, glamour and excitement to a Chocolate Party that will long be remembered.

Here are the best Chocolate Carpet Moments and Designer Collections!

Red Bull Brings Cricket to Campus!

Recently Red Bull brought back the thrills of Cricket to K-town with the Finale of it’s fourth edition of Red Bull Campus Cricket Pakistan.

Since past four years, Red Bull has been investing towards providing several individuals a platform to grow in the field of sports and several other extra curricular activities. This year too Red Bull brought together the Cricketers of tomorrow from 17 cities and 85 campuses nationwide.

After two months of heart racing action, the final of the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 lived up to its billing as the Jinnah Degree College Karachi’s team outwitted Lahore’s University of Central Punjab by 17 runs to earn the title of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2015 Pakistan Champion.

The final match was launched by a colourful opening ceremony that attracted legendary cricket stars like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, Moin Khan and Saleem Yousaf. Besides the living legends that attended the event some of the leading Karachi based current cricketers including Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Khurram Manzoor also turned up on a memorable Sunday night at the DHA Sports Club, Moin Khan Cricket Academy, Karachi.

After winning the toss, the captain of the University of Central Punjab team Ali Tipu Sultan opted to bowl first on a sluggish pitch. Jinnah Degree College got off to a steady start but lost three wickets in quick succession. Shahzar Hasan, younger brother of Pakistan international Shahzeb Hasan, held the innings together with a vital innings of 53. After Shahzar’s departure, Qadir Khan ensured a competitive score of 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs through a workmanlike run a ball 31. Ali Tipu who snared three wickets in the semi-final, took four in the final, conceding 22 runs in his four overs.

University of Central Punjab were taxed in their chase from the outset as the pitch became increasingly sluggish under the lights at the Moin Khan Academy. Tamour Sultan was the only batsman to make an impact, top scoring for his team with a 48 ball 54. Tamour though fell in the 16th over with his team still 39 runs adrift of the 120 run target.

After his demise the innings folded quickly with Jinnah Degree College’s all out spin attack ably backed by some sharp fielding all around the park. Waqas took three wickets while Salman took two. The Pakistan champions would now travel to India to take part in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals scheduled for October 2015.

With so much happening in country, I think Red Bull’s contribution towards giving individuals such an amazing platform is the ray of light and hope for positivity and bright future for all of us! Hats off to Red Bull for pulling off yet another amazing concept with such class!

Ponder Over It, Yeah?

Suno, you guys wanna watch the match together at my place?” Samad yelled from the balcony of his apartment on the 3rd floor, looking at his friends playing downstairs. Raza and Ali rushed to get the popcorn and went to Samad’s house.

Funny commentary, joyous laughs over the fours and the sixes got overshadowed by a loud thud and the shaking of earth under their feet.

The three on them never found out the match’s result.

Aliya: When will you reach home?

Sahira: In a bit. On the way only.

Aliya: Come soon. Bhai’s back from his trip. Get Coke on the way please.

Sahira: Sure thing.

Aliya had only read the last text from her sister when she heard the loud thud, saw the chaos spreading with the flames and gave in to the screams of pain and plea.

Sahira lost a roof and the souls breathing under it.

“Ammi kab ayeing aap log, I’m dying of hunger.” Rizwan said. “Bas beta pohanch rahey hain, khana hi le rahey they.”

They never returned back to their sanctuary or a son awaiting to be fed.

Sana kept sneaking glances at the phone hidden under a book in her lap while watching the Urdu TV soap with her family. Her face brightened up when she saw his name flashing on the screen of her phone. She tip-toed to her room and picked up the phone. “Hello”, Zaid’s voice at the other end made her sigh in relief. “I just got my phone recharged. I missed you.” “I love you Zaid.” She confessed.

A loud blast, a house set on fire, falling of the walls, last breaths.

He never heard her voice ever again.

And a so many other stories ended today. So many shelters turned into dust which used to be filled with carefree laughs and tears of understanding. So many still struggling to live for a few seconds, hanging between life and death. So many praying for a prompt end for the pain is just unbearable.

And so many praying for they survived yet another day. For their loved ones are breathing and tucked in their beds, sleeping, dreaming… Hopelessly.

Our lives have become nothing but a number, a statistical figure to be flashed in huge fonts on the television screens, to be announced again and again by the nicely and expensively dressed news reporters and to be written on so many statuses and tweets on social networking sites.

Our sanctuaries are not safe anymore. Tonight it was them, tomorrow it will be you, me or someone we love. Think over it!
