Better Safe Than Sorry

Several girls each day have such a conversation with people they confide in. Several women opt for secret or illegal abortions every day being a part of a conservative society.

Why is it that these women aren’t provided with the much needed sex education? Why is that its 2017 and our society, our country is still playing victim to the very idea of sex? Its something that’s celebrated wearing expensive clothes and serving delicious food under the event category of Valima every day in Pakistan then why is there no education provided beforehand?

Childbirth is one of God’s most wondrous miracle that a human eye has seen, that a human heart has experiences and yet we fail to provide the preliminary precautions and and prevention for it?

While I’m at it, let’s see a few facts here about women, pregnancy and contraception:

  1. In Pakistan, almost one-half of the women are anemic throughout their pregnancy.
  2. More than 2/3rds of the women deliver at home, without the supervision of any trained assistance.
  3. 45% deaths of under 5 years of age occurs during the first month of life, primarily as a result of poor maternal health and nutrition and complications during delivery. This indicates that maternal health has a direct impact on child survival..
  4. Less than 2 years of interval between children doubles the risk of infant dying.
  5. 34% mothers in Pakistan are said to be underweight according to their age and BMI.
  6. One woman in every 38 dies during childbirth.
  7. More than 1/3rd of Pakistani women wish to space the next birth or limit the family, but is unable to do so.
  8. Households spend considerably less on women in the event of illness as compared to men.
  9. 3 women lose their lives EVERY HOUR because of pregnancy associated complications.
  10. We have more than seventy five thousand villages all over the country without proper road network. People living in mountains, forest areas and small islands have no access to centre with EmOC available.

The lack of contraception, health and sex education, and precautions is taking so many lives, physically and emotionally.

To address this, Greenstar recently came out with a powerful campaign – #NoMenWithoutWomen.

Several women came out with messages to show a woman’s struggle. The campaign didn’t just raise awareness but had several others speak up about so many issues. There definitely is #NoMenWithoutWomen and kudos to Greenstar SM for highlighting this issue, putting forward a progressive Pakistan.

Last weekend the world celebrated yet another important day of the year – Mother’s Day! Several brands in Pakistan took the front seats with their digital and on-ground campaigns revolving around the occasion, however, The Balm was one of those who stood out amongst the crowd!

The balm’s activation at Dolmen Mall Tariq Road, that started from May 6th, definitely won the hearts of several mothers and their daughters with free makeovers and surprise gifts on buying the products. That definitely was a great deal!

What made this campaign a great success was the way it was synced on digital platforms by using #BeTheBalm! The before and after makeover selfie check-ins and the pictures with moms for a Facebook contest brought out the essence of Mother’s Day for the audience.

The international make-up brand took yet another step forward by engaging a Sara Salon & Spa’s crew for makeover classes on May 7th, further strengthening the bond with the target audience and opening avenues for conversations about it on digital!

The activation turned out to be great for the audience, telling the moms that they are definitely #TheBalm!

Lays makes Karachi #CleanAndGreen

Seldom brands look beyond their marketing objectives and the numbers they need to generate annually to actually focus on issues and causes all of us fight for.

Lays Pakistan this time has come forward with two amazing campaigns as in initiative to protect environment. Lays, however, is taking baby steps but everything counts towards the bigger value addition of the cause.

Last week Lays aimed to make Karachi #CleanAndGreen by launching their #LaysTrashformers campaign on-ground at Sea-View. img-20160229-wa00361

The team aimed to clean the Karachi beach by collecting and recycling the trash. They have a recycling bin at the sea view near McDonald’s where people can go, play their part towards protecting the environment and making the city #CleanAndGreen!

#PlantAPack – Own a Cause!

Each day, most of the brands, millions of people and thousands of creative brains contribute towards a Digital Pakistan! Many of them come up with great campaigns, massive reach and millions of stories. However, only a few stand up for a cause and own a platform.

Lays Pakistan, unlike other brands in the category, decided to own a platform with launching #PlantAPack campaign!

Living in times where our environment is at a great risk and so are our lives, trees are being cut in order to improve living standards, yet giving birth to several environmental issues, we as humans at large are at risk! During this, #PlantAPack is becoming a campaign that saves the day! That moves our youth towards plantation and motivates them to contribute towards saving the planet earth!

With Wasim Akram and Messi supporting green, Lays went to IBA to initiate their #PlantAPack campaign. The idea is to target universities and engage them in the plantation drive where representatives will be dressed as tree mascots and will teach the  students how they can sow a plant using the inverted Lays packet. These inverted Lay’s packets will serve as a replacement to flower pots or bags hence the drive is called, #PlantAPack. It has been experimented that one plantation of such a pack helps produce 3 pounds of oxygen. Imagine the magnified effect!

They started off the activity with IBA and more universities are to be included as well. Each university will make an ECO BOARD or a decorated wall, displaying their plantation by hanging them and the one with the best and most creative ECO Board will win prizes from UEFA Champions League!

Future Tech Brings iPhone 6S to Pakistan

Pakistan is a country thriving with several technology enthusiast, digitally creating conversations related to the Tech brands they endorse. Amidst that there’s always a debate going on about the official merchandise providers in Pakistan. Coca Cola – Hitting You Right In The Feels

Coca Cola has never failed in seizing the opportunity and becoming that connecting hook between strangers, lovers, countries, friends and generally people around the world. Whether you share a bond with each other or not, Coca Cola finds a way to bring you together. This time around, Coca Cola took their #ShareACoke campaign to next level, leveraging the idea of communicating through facial expressions and coming up with #ShareAFeeling campaign.

The campaign was executed in the South-East Asia, mainly in Singapore and Vietnam, instituting a communicative connection via emoticon and expressions. The emoticons printed on the Coke bottles and cans became a popular way of communication amongst those who fell in love at the first sight, those who couldn’t find words to express and those who didn’t want to lose a chance to spread love!

Another one from the campaign executed in Vietnam connected strangers on the road, people who cross our paths everyday but we never take a minute to talk to them, to appreciate their beauty! Coca Cola knew right where to step in and connect people together!
